INTERPOL, originally known as the International Criminal Police Commission (ICPC), was founded on September 7, 1923, following a five-day International Police Congress in Vienna. The organization remained largely inactive until the end of World War II. In 1956, it adopted a new constitution and officially changed its name to INTERPOL, a name derived from its telegraphic address, which had been in use since 1946 and had its official name changed to the International Criminal Police Organization.
INTERPOL, is the world’s largest policing organization dedicated to improving global security cooperation and combating crime. As the world becomes much more interconnected and digital, criminal networks can expand their presence and their activities at a pace never before seen in history. An organization such as INTERPOL is more vital than ever, however even an organization with such a clear goal as combating crime is not immune from political discourse. With 196 members, INTERPOL must coordinate with numerous law enforcement agencies across thousands of criminal cases to ensure justice is served. Delegations will be assigned a specific country within this unique committee and each delegate will be assigned a specific law enforcement agency from within the specified country.
